MY JOURNEY

Biomedical Science in London

I completed my Biomedical Science degree and knew medicine was my goal.

Exploring My Options

I looked at different pathways to pursue medicine and discovered the opportunity to study in Europe.

Moving to Poland

I took the leap, moved abroad and began a new chapter in my life.

Medical University of Silesia (SUM)

I secured my place and started my medical journey at SUM.

Medicine Pathways Europe

Now I help UK students navigate the same journey with clarity and support.

THE EXPERIENCE THAT SHAPED
MEDICINE PATHWAYS EUROPE

Getting Into Medical School
Was Only the Beginning.

1. Finding Another Route Into Medicine

My own route into medicine wasn't straightforward. Like many students, I reached a point where the traditional route I had expected to take no longer felt certain, and I had to look beyond the UK to find another way forward.

That search eventually led me to the Medical University of Silesia in Poland, where I found another route towards the career I had always envisioned for myself.

When I decided to apply, I chose to use an agency. I was entering an admissions process I had never navigated before, and I wanted the reassurance of having someone experienced handle my application properly. I didn't want to risk overlooking an important document, missing a step or misunderstanding a requirement that could affect my application.

Today, through Medicine Pathways Europe, I provide the reassurance I needed then and that prospective students need when navigating an unfamiliar admissions process. Having been through the admissions process myself and now studying at SUM, I understand the process, the university and what prospective students need along the way. I take care of the admissions process on the student's behalf, with direct communication with the university where needed, so they don't have to navigate it alone.

2. Getting Accepted Was Only the Beginning

But my own experience also taught me that a successful application is only part of what students need.

The agency I used had also promised that their service would include practical support throughout my transition to Poland, including help with finding accommodation, getting a SIM card, opening a bank account and many of the other things involved in settling into a new country. Knowing I would have that support made the prospect of moving abroad feel far less daunting.

But once I arrived in Poland, that support faded.

I ended up having to arrange my accommodation, get my SIM card, open my bank account and navigate many of the other things I had been promised help with entirely by myself. I was suddenly trying to establish my life in a completely new country while learning how unfamiliar systems and processes worked, without the practical assistance I had expected to receive.

Even finding the right information could be difficult. I was navigating unfamiliar processes while also dealing with a language barrier, which made everything even more overwhelming. Things that might sound simple on paper became stressful when I didn't know where to go, who to ask or whether the information I had found was actually relevant to me as a UK student.

It was stressful, particularly at a time when I was already adjusting to moving abroad and beginning medical school. I had made it into medicine, but I quickly realised that getting into medical school was only one part of the journey.

3. Why I Created Medicine Pathways Europe

That experience stayed with me.
It made me realise that students don't only need someone experienced to take care of their application. They need someone who understands what comes next too: someone who can help them prepare properly before they leave the UK, provide knowledgeable guidance specific to the journey they're making, and help them navigate the practical realities of establishing their new life in Poland.

That's why I created Medicine Pathways Europe: to provide the support I wished I had.
