What are the entry requirements for Medicine at SUM?

Medicine at SUM is a six-year programme combining theoretical medical education with practical and clinical training as students progress through the degree.

For the 2026/2027 academic year, tuition is 65,500 PLN per year, or 32,750 PLN per semester. This is approximately £13,100 per year, although the GBP equivalent varies with the exchange rate.

Yes. The Medical University of Silesia is an internationally recognised medical university, and its medical degree is recognised internationally.

The Medicine programme at the Medical University of Silesia lasts six years (12 semesters) and carries 360 ECTS credits.

Yes. SUM offers its six-year Medicine programmes entirely in English.

Living costs in Katowice are generally lower than in many major UK cities. A student can typically expect to budget around £600 per month, depending on accommodation and lifestyle.

Yes. Not getting into Medicine in the UK does not mean your journey to becoming a doctor has to end. The Medical University of Silesia offers another pathway to studying Medicine, and we can discuss your individual academic background during your consultation.
